Dental Implants
Dental Implants are a great way to provide a patient who is dealing with missing teeth a permanent tooth restoration option. However, in some cases depending on the particular case of the patient they may require another procedure to make the installation of dental implants installation process possible. Specifically, in some cases a patient may need a sinus lift to make them a candidate for dental implants.

Why You May Need A Sinus Lift?

A patient who has missing teeth may need a sinus lift if they have lost teeth in their upper jaw because they may not have enough bone to hold the dental implants in place. Also, if they have gum disease, they may have lost bone, and you’ll need a sinus lift if your maxillary sinus is too close to your upper jaw.

How Is A Sinus Lift Procedure Done?

In order to perform a sinus, lift the bone needed is taken from one of three places either your own body, a cadaver, or a cow. If your own bone is used, then it may be taken from your mouth or other parts of your body. The first step would be to cut the gum tissue where you once had black teeth and then to then the tissue is raised to expose the bone. After this a small incision is made in the bone and the now transported bone material is filled into this small hole and then the tissue is stitched back together.
